Selena Gomez is deadpan perfect as she reads the first mean Tweet in the latest Jimmy Kimmel segment on the scads of nasty comments about celebrities over the social networking site.
It’s the talk show host’s belief that the Internet was “built on a foundation of unnecessarily cruel and vicious attacks from hateful, nameless, bearded former Blockbuster clerks.”
This is the third time he’s done the bit and it’s still hilarious. “In 2006, tweeting was something only birds did. Now it’s our No. 1 way to insult celebrities,” he said.
“Celebrities with Twitter accounts, and I know this because I have one, get bombarded with sometimes hundreds of insults a day. So over the last few months we’ve been asking our celebrity guests to sit down and read mean tweets about them,” he explained.
Last time out, Kimmel asked Katy Perry, Danny McBride, James Van Der Beek, Zoey Deschanel, Larry King and David Spade and Kristen Stewart to read Tweets.
This time, Gomez was joined by some of the people we love to hate: Larry King, Tom Arnold, Dr. Phil, David Arquette, Kirstie Alley, Simon Cowell and some we love: Jessica Biel.
