adam-levine-snl-frontAdam Levine, the hunky frontman for Maroon 5, puts aside his musical chops and gears up to host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend. Is he auditioning for movie roles?

Under the guise that every actor wants to be a musician (Johnny Depp?) and every musician wants to be an actor, Levine appears poised to make the jump himself.

While Levine, 33, has appeared as musical guest before, this is the first time he will host the show. This week’s musical guest is Kendrick Lamar.

Levine told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that he’s looking forward to acting in the show’s comedy skits.

“We’re getting down to the nitty gritty as far as deciding what we’re going to do and how we’re going to do it. I don’t want to play it safe,” he said.

Levine acted like he was bucking for his own action-adventure movie in the new video for Maroon 5 song “Payphone.” Rapper Wiz Khalifa also kicked in some spit. The video, released last May, looks like an action movie.

Last year he appeared in three episodes of TV mini-series “American Horror Story: Asylum” and movie “Can a Song Save Your Life?” The latter is in post production and slated for release this year. It also stars Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo.

In a new promo for the show, Levine and funnyman Bobby Moynihan play off the singer’s role on “The Voice.” Check it out below and be sure to follow TheImproper on twitter for all the latest Saturday Night Live updates.
