Beyonce came, saw and delivered a halftime show at the Super Bowl that matched the excitement on the field, including a much anticipated Destiny’s Child reunion that added a poignant moment to an action-packed production.
The 31-year-old singer was under some pressure to deliver after the fiasco she caused by lip-syncing the National Anthem at President Obama’s inaugural festivities two weeks earlier.
She faced a similar situation when she was added to the list of performers at the Glastonbury Festival two years ago. The move touched off griping because the festival is supposed to be dedicated to rock acts. But she brought the house down then as well.
She opened the show with a pyrotechnic flourish and strutted out to center stage like a supermodel, in hip-high boots and a space-age looking body suit.
She tossed her jacket into the crowd, revealing her ample cleavage and pounded out some of her top hits from “Crazy in Love,” “Love on Top” and “End of Time” to “Baby Boy.”
It was all Sasha Fierce as she broke into a sexy dance routine with eight equally hot backup dancers. About midway through the show Destiny’s Child singers Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland popped out of the stage. The harmonized with perfection on “Bootylicious,” “Independent Woman” and Beyonce’s hit “Single Ladies.”
Madonna hosted last year’s show and maybe in her prime she might have generated just as much energy. But she showed her age even with help from Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.
Beyonce performed the whole show live and lived up to her billing as the queen of pop music. Check out the performance below and be sure to follow TheImproper on Twitter for more music updates.
