Goyte (top) and Mumford & Sons were big winners at the 55th Grammy Awards.
Indeed, the major awards belonged to indie rockers, while two of the big three went to British and Australian bands.
Record of the Year went to “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye (featuring Kimbra); Album of the Year went to Babel by Mumford & Sons and Song of the Year went to “We Are Young” by Fun. (featuring Janelle Moná).
“I don’t know what I was thinking, writing this song,” frontman Nate Ruess said, noting that the band has been playing together in obscurity for 10 years.
“If this is in HD, everyone can see our faces, and we are not very young,” he added.
Fun. also won Best New Artist, a category in which Ocean was also a nominee.
But it wasn’t a total loss for the New Orleans artist. Ocean won Grammys for Best Urban Contemporary Album for Channel Orange. He beat rival Chris Brown, who was up for his album Fortune.
