“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2” will be released on Blu-ray and DVD March 2. This is the first of the major featurettes to make its way online.
The Blu-ray and the 2-disc DVD will feature hours of bonus material, including a seven-part documentary on making the films. The segments include a special focus on “Renesmee” and “The Battle,” as well as audio commentary on the film by director Bill Condon, according to Summit Entertainment.
The video opens with a couple of quick cuts as the movie is being filmed, including the Cullens, their allies and the wolfpack charging the Volturi in the epic battle scene. Except they’re runnning in a large warehouse against a “green screen,” used to allow for special effects.
There are also quick shots of Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy) riding a mechanical wolf that’s supposed to be Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner)
For as sophisticated as computer generated graphics is these days, the filming of Breaking Dawn, Part 2 used a lot of old-fashioned cables and pullies to create some of the action.
Kristen is first up to explain the ending of “Breaking Dawn, Part 1.” “It leaves you with a big cliffhanger,” she says. “Bella is dead possibly.”
Then “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer explains the close up on Bella’s face as she transforms into a vampire.
“Then her eyes pop-open at the last minute and there is something very different about her,” Kristen chimes in.
The next section of the video is entitled “Rebirth” and it shows the awakening of Bella as a newly minted vampire. “For me, I loved how alive she really became,” Kristen explains about the character.
