Robert Downey Jr. takes on the Mandarin in Iron Man 3.

Robert Downey Jr’s character Tony Stark takes a licking and keeps on ticking as Iron Man in a new television spot for the upcoming epic “Iron Man 3.” It will kick-off the summer blockbuster season in May.

Iron Man’s new nemesis is the Mandarin, and he’s wicked.

Stark finds out the hard way just how much the Mandarin has a hard on for him when the arch-villain starts trashing all of his favorite toys, including his waterfront mansion.

That’s striking a little too close to home. But when the Mandarin goes after the fetching Pepper Potts, played by equally fetching Gwyneth Paltrow, that’s the last rivet in the bucket, so to speak.

But you’ll have to wait for the movie to see Iron Man exact his revenge. In the 32-second television spot, Tony gets schooled.

“Mr. Stark, ready for a lesson,” the evil villain, played by Ben Kingsley says moments before fleet of helicopters attack his beachfront house.

“There is something I’m going to say to the Mandarin,” Stark says. “You’re not a man; you’re nothing more than a maniac.”

“You’ll never see me coming,” the Mandarin growls back.

Cut to some major explosions, and Pepper’s bone rattling scream “Tooonnnny,” and the spot leaves the distinct impression that Iron Man will be fighting for everything near and dear to him.

As ad added bonus, “Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?” according to the film’s synopsis.
