Derek Hough provided the necessary chemistry to Ellie Goulding’s “Lights!” By the time they were done, Pickler seemed to be the consensus leader after week two of Season 16.
“Last week was a spark. This week is a fire,” said Judge Len Goodman.
Of course, Hough and Pickler, 26, make a perfect couple. They’re about as cute together as two people can be. Hopefully, they’re not too cute. Viewer votes will ultimately determine the winner and viewers can be fickle when it comes to who gets their support.
Derek told Kelly he wanted to take advantage of her experience as a cheerleader to include some sharp cheerleader moves and they were evident in the futuristic dance.
Kelly also clearly lifted her game from week one. Their cha cha was competent but not particularly inspired. It lacked the chemistry of this week’s dance and it showed in the score. They earned a 21 from the judges.
Going into this week’s episode, Kelly was in a three-way tie for second place. But she faces stiff competition from Zendaya, who is only 16, and Aly Raisman. Zendaya tied Kellie with a 26, while Aly was close behind with a 24.
