In all, the photos have appeared in French, Italian and Irish publications. Some American magazines are reportedly in talks to publish the photos as well.
The latest publication comes in defiance of a court order the Royal Palace won in France barring further publication of the photos in that country.
Kate Middleton Topless Photos Published
Kate Middleton is caught in a royal uproar over topless photos of her published in France. They follow publication of nude photos of Prince Harry partying in Las Vegas. Click the photo to see Kate topless.
Closer, the French magazine that first revealed the images and the photographer who took them, has been ordered to turn over the photos to the royal couple.
But the order has no bearing on publications in other countries. Carina Loefkvist, editor-in-chief of Se og Hør ( translation See & Hear) magazine said the weekly tabloid bought the photos last Friday “from photographers and photo agencies,” according to London’s Daily Mail.
“It is nothing new to us to publish nude photos of celebrities on holiday,” she said, adding that other celebrities, such as Demi Moore and Kate Moss have appeared topless in the magazine, which has a 100,000 circulation.
“No one complains when they do and we print the photos,” Lofkvist added.
“It’s a set of unique photos from a A-class celebrity. We are a leading gossip magazine in Denmark, and it is my job to publish them. If the British royal family want to sue us, then it will happen then and we’ll deal with it,” he said.
‘Our readers love to follow the lives of celebrities and royals and are always looking for news that brings them up close. It is in Se og Hor’s DNA to entertain and satisfy our readers’ curiosity.”
The palace declined to comment on any further legal action to stem the circulation of the photographs, some of which have already been disseminated over the Internet.
