Katie Couric: It's War! Lands Wills, Harry Interview (watch!) 1Katie Couric has proved her media clout by landing an interview with Prince William and Prince Harry. It’s a rare inside look at the closely guarded Queen of England. But what about Babs?

The interview, timed to coincide with the Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, is a major broadside at her old network, CBS, and NBC, the last outlet to snag a royal interview.

Matt Lauer interviewed Prince Charles for NBC two years ago. But Prince William, the likely future king, and randy Prince Harry, are a far bigger draws. The only thing bigger would be an interview with the Queen herself.

But one queen must be feeling a little left out. ABC’s Barbara Walters has long been the network’s heavy hitter on celebrity interviews.

Couric left NBC to anchor the “CBS Evening News” in 2006. She was the first female to solo on a weekday evening news program on one of the three major networks. But her run ended after five years, amid consistently low ratings.

She bounced to ABC and appears headed to fill a void left by the departure of Oprah Winfrey. Her daytime talk show is expected to star in the Fall.

Prince William and his bride of just over one year, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, are the hottest couple in the world. No word, though, whether Kate will pop in on the interview.

Still an interview showing Katie hobnobbing with both princes is solid gold.

“Behind closed doors, she’s our grandmother, it’s as simple as that’ Prince Harry confides to her.

“As I learned from growing up, you don’t mess with your grandmother,” Prince William said in a separate sit down.

The special, “The Real Queen By Her Own Royal Family,” airs May 29. Check out the preview below.
