Charlize Theron is winning over the critics for her role as evil Queen Ravenna in “Snow White and the Huntsman.” But in real life, she says she’s far more laid back about her stunning looks.

“I’m so grateful that I was raised by a mother who really instilled in me that my moral compass and achievements all had to come from a real place that had nothing to do with my beauty or how I looked,” she says.

Indeed, Theron, 36, didn’t hesitate to gain 30 pounds and undergo an extreme make-over to portray real life serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 film “Monster.” She won the best actress Oscar for her role.

Still, she isn’t totally immune to the pressures actresses face to look beautiful.

“As of right now, I definitely have a different relationship with the way I look,’ Charlize told Interview magazine.

“It’s not all-consuming, but I’m also human, so I have days when I look in the mirror and go, ‘All right, things are definitely changing.’ I can see that,” she adds.

But Theron, who stays fit by doing Pilates and yoga, rules out plastic surgery, at least for now. “I can’t foresee myself ever going under the knife, but then again, I’m only in my mid-30s,” she says. “Maybe it’s different when you’re in your mid-60s.”

Charlize, who recently quit smoking with the aid of hypnotherapy and adopted an African-American baby, is content with how her life is unfolding.

“I try not to be a prisoner to those kinds of thoughts or ideas of what I think my life should be or shouldn’t be,” she says.

“That’s why I’ve never had a five-year plan. I always knew that I wanted to have children. I also never felt the biological clock ticking because I think I always knew that I wanted to adopt.”

“Snow White and the Huntsman,” which co-stars Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth, hits theaters June 1, 2012. Theron will also star in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi thriller “Prometheus,” which also hits theaters soon.
