Miley Cyrus is fast-tracking her life for marriage and babies after announcing her engagement to boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, the young Australian actor who recently starred in “The Hunger Games.”
Hemsworth, 22, proposed on May 31 and gave Miley a 3.5-carat diamond ring from jeweller Neil Lane to seal the deal.
Did she deliver an ultimatum? The couple has split up twice before. Now, Miley is clearly head over heels.
“I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” Miley, 19, told People
Miley, who was always ahead of her years, still seems way too young to be making what supposed to be a life-long commitment.
The median age for women who get married in the United States is 26 and for men 28, according to the last Census Bureau tally. So in that regard, Miley is way ahead of the curve.
The only place where the average woman is married in her teens is in some African counties and impoverished countries like Bangladesh.
On the other hand, the Disney child star isn’t bound by traditional restraints on marriage such as household debt, income, or finding a job. Miley is reportedly worth $120 million.
“Heaven is a place on earth,” the actress tweeted a day after the proposal.
“I love you more today than yesterday but I love you less today than I will tomorrow,’ and, ‘life is beautiful,” she tweeted.
Miley said the Australian is her “first serious boyfriend,” She previously dated Nick Jonas and model Justin Gaston.
“She makes me really happy. When you start, you want to be professional, but when you’re filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you’re not human if you don’t feel something,” said Hemsworth after the two started dating following their film “The Last Song.”
