Robert Pattinson Talks: What Twilight Means to Him (watch!) 1

Robert Pattinson was a little known British actor before being cast as Edward Cullen in “Twilight.” He reflected today on what the movie franchise means to him personally, during Comic-Con International 2012 at San Diego Convention Center.

The final film in the series, ‘Breaking Dawn, Part 2″ will hit theaters in Nov., marking the end of the five movie franchise that began in 2008. Back then, Rob was an obscure actor.

His biggest part was in a cameo role as Cedric Diggory in 2005’s “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” and 2007’s “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” Then came Twilight, and he and girlfriend Kristen Stewart became international stars, along with Taylor Lautner and other cast members.

Now that he is promoting a “Twilight” film for the last time, he was fittingly asked what the film means to him. His answer was poignant.

“I mean, it’s given me a life I had no idea I’d be having at all. I still feel like I’ve kind of fallen down the rabbit hole. I just literatlly randomly audition and ended up going in this crazy direction,” he said.

Twilight fans will also have something very special in store when they watch the movie, Rob says. “The very end of the movie is very, very sentimental,” he reveals. “I didn’t expect myself to react the way I did.

“[Director] Bill Condon did this amazing ending, which is so sweet. Anyone who has had any kind of investment in this series, you can’t really help but get emotional about it,” he adds.

Oddly Rob laughingly described the film as a “political action epic.” It’s unlike any of the others, he hints.

As for Kristen’s transformation into a vampire, Rob said he was secretly pleased to see her go through the transformation. “It’s quite vindicating hearing her complain,” he said.

Even though there won’t be a film to promote, he says he’d like to return to Comic-Con next year… “maybe dressed up as Edward!”
