Justin Bieber is ready to live off of love in his new video for “As Long as You Love Me.” Justin gives his acting chops a workout with Michael Madsen pitching in as his girlfriend’s tough-ass father. Is Justin angling for a movie career?

The Biebs obviously wanted to do much more than make a standard music video. He’s shooting for cinematic glory. The video weighs in at just under six minutes, and includes lots of dialogue along with the music.

Bieber apparently pulled out all the stops to insure high production value. Anthony Mandler, who has directed more than a dozen videos for Rihanna, helms the clip. It’s more more structured, with a plot line just like a movie compared with his previous video for “Boyfriend.”

Bieber has often talked about his desire to segue into movies and this could be his resume tape. The video opens with Madsen playing the overprotective father. He’s got the continence of a Mafia don, so his threats carry some weight. But the Biebs is unswayed. He’s in love and he’ll do what ever it takes. He sings:

As long as you love me
We could be starving, we could be homeless, we could be broke
As long as you love me
I’ll be your platinum, I’ll be your silver, I’ll be your gold

Daddy pegs Justin as a loser, just like he used to be. “I know what type of guy you are,” he croaks. “Once upon a time I used to be the same thing. You know what that means. That means one day you’ll leave her for someone else and break her heart. I can’t have that.”

Leave and don’t come back,” he warns. “Because if you do, it’s not going to be good for you.”

But love can move mountains, and Justin wants to make a run for it. Someone needs to tell Justin about “over acting.” The pained look on his face is a little much as he opens the song.

Midway through the video, Justin falls back on some music video staples like urban street-scene dancing and hot-rodding in a ’60s-era muscle car, which seem a little incongruous. (How bad can he be doing with a car like that?) In any event, Justin and his girlfriend make a run for it.

Things look like they’re going pretty smoothly during Big Sean’s chorus, but Big Daddy eventually catches up to them and delivers Justin a big ass whupping. Ouch. So does he get the girl? Check out the video below. And let us know what you think about Justin’s acting.
