Drake sings with Rihanna about a love just out of his reach in a new video for his song “Take Care.” The obvious chemistry between the two has touched off all kinds of tabloids speculation about a relationship. Believe it?

It’s unlikely. Rihanna made clear in a recent interview that she is single. While Drake is single too, they also have been close friends for a long time.

If something was going on between the two, it would have happened by now. But there’s no doubt they are capable of creating heat. “They seemed to be super close, and that’s what I wanted for the video,” Director Yoann Lemoine told MTVNews last month.

The black and white video is very minimal. There is no story line per se. It’s more a series of images that could be interpreted as metaphors. Rihanna’s appearance in the video is also minimal. But when she’s in a scene she smolders in an off-shoulder cable knit cardigan.

The video flashes from scene to scene with symbols that represent both deep romance and explosive passion.

While Rihanna has made clear in statements that she is single, she has written a number of cryptic tweets that some tabloids claim are an effort to woo former boyfriend Chris Brown, who brutally assaulted her in 2009.

The Barbadian singer touched off a firestorm of criticism when she collaborated with Brown on her song “Birthday Cake,” and then on his song “Turn Up the Music.”

Brown is dating Vietnamese model Karrueche Tran and some of Rihanna’s barbed Tweets seem to be aimed at her.

The Barbadian singer’s management is reportedly urging her to stay away from the rapper, but she also let it be known in an interview with Elle magazine that she will do whatever she wants.

“I respect what other people have to say. The bottom line is that everyone thinks differently,” she told the magazine.

“It’s very hard for me to accept, but I get it. People end up wasting their time on the blogs or whatever, ranting away, and that’s alright. I don’t hate them for it.”

“Because tomorrow I’m still going to be the same person. I’m still going to do what I want to do,” she said.
