Khloe Kardashian Hypes Drama as Show Ratings Stumble 1Khloe Kardashian’s life with Lamar Odom has been all over the map lately. First she’s on the verge of divorce; then they’re cuddling for the cameras. She’s having a baby; she’s not having a baby. What gives? In a word… ratings.

The sister of Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian appears to be pulling every reality show trick in the book to draw viewers to her flagging show “Khloe and Lamar” on E! Entertainment.

A big question is whether the Kardashians are spent as reality show fodder. Kim was able to log big ratings on last season’s “Kourtney & Kim Take New York,” because the show milked her trainwreck of a marriage to basketballer Kris Humphries.

Did Khloe Kardashian Ruin Lamar’s NBA Career?

Without that drama, she threatened to be as boring as toast, until Kanye West came on the scene. He’s a bigger fame whore than maybe even her. As such, their hookup was made in marketing heaven.

He has vaulted Kim back into the news for something other than her wretched marriage, and she is giving him the spotlight he so craves. Plus, he’ll do anything to play ball with her. The Kim and Kayne story line is probably good for at least two more seasons.

Khloe hasn’t been so lucky. The Kardashian “sources” have been leaking “drama” stories to gullible tabloid Web sites hoping to draw viewers.

But on Sunday night (Apr. 24) her show was buried in 15th place in the cable TV ratings, with only 1.7 million viewers, compared with No. 1 cable show “Game of Thrones.” It scored 3.65 million viewers.

It’s the first time in the past few weeks that Khloe’s show slipped out of the top ten. Bravo’s “Real Housewives” shows are crushing her, while even the History Channel’s “Axe Men,” beat her handily last Sunday (Apr. 23).

Khloe Kardashian’s Bad Year: Did Kim Pull Her Down?

Now momager Kris Jenner is reportedly insisting that Lamar stay on the show, even though it has largely been credited with ruining his beloved NBA career. Lamar is said to be fed up with the spotlight.

His trade to the Dallas Mavericks was supposed to drive this season’s story line as they adjusted to life in their new city, but that fizzled after Odom was cut by the team for poor performance.

The only thing that will save the show now is a messy divorce like Kim’s. Is Khloe mercenary enough to kick Lamar to the curb for her show?
