Charlize Theron steely character is apparently the puppet master on the good ship “Prometheus.” She knows the real meaning of the voyage to seek humankind’s supposed origins, according to a new trailer.
Of course, what turns out to be a voyage of good will at the “invitation” of some advanced civilization goes horribly wrong for the spaceship’s crew.
They plunge into a hell only Director Ridley Scott can conjure. With Scott’s “Alien” creatures awaiting them, the crew, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green fight for their lives.
The clip runs for 2:54, the longest yet of three that have now been released. It covers a lot of ground from the second trailer, but also provides more insight into the threats the crew is facing once they land their ship.
The trailer opens with Prometheus touching down and the crew being awakened from suspended animation. Theron’s character Meredith Vickers, a Weyland Corp. employee, sent to monitor the expedition reminds the crew why she’s there. “It’s my job to make sure you do yours.”
The strange pictograph that turns up at several unrelated ancient sites on earth isn’t a map, but “an invitation,” says Elizabeth Shaw, (Rapace), an archaeologist who is a “believer” in the group’s mission.
In a critical plot turn, the trailer reveals a possible secret behind the mission. “Ms. Vickers, is there an agenda you’re not telling us about?” says one of the crew.
Turns out it’s the aliens who may have an agenda, and it possibly involves the destruction of earth.
Check out the clip below; the film hits theaters June 8 in both IMAX and in 3D.
