Jimmy Fallon has never hesitated to use Chris Christie as a punchline for fat jokes. But now that the New Jersey governor has lost 40 pounds thanks to lap-band surgery, the late-night host recounted some of his best one-liners.

“Have you guys heard this? My man, New Jersey governor Chris Christie just revealed he had secret lap-band surgery in February to restrict the amount of food that he can eat.

“Apparently he’s tired of people making fun of his weight,” Fallon said. “Really, who would do that?”

As it turns out, he would. Fallon has told more Chris Christie fat jokes than even he realized. A litany of his late-night gags were reprised in a video clip.

Check out this:

“Chris Christie’s approval rating has gone up 12 points. Usually, the only time he picks up a dozen is when he goes to Krispy Kreme.”

Then, there was the one-liners about pancakes, “collapsing that bridge when he gets to it” and “blocking the sun.”

Fallon couldn’t stop laughing after the clip ended. “He’s a good guy… We kept doing jokes about him on Twitter he tweeted me: ‘Really, Jimmy Fallon, another joke in the monologue? You guys need more material.’

“And I go, ‘You know what needs more material, your suits!'” Fallon laughed. “Don’t mess with me. Don’t mess with me man!”

Christie’s weight became a political liability when his name surfaced as a potential Republican candidate for president. But he said his decision to have surgery wasn’t about politics but about turning 50 and wanting to be around for his children.

“This is a hell of a lot more important to me than running for president,” Christie said. “This is about my family’s future.” He has four children.

Check out Fallon’s monologue below. He may not have Christie to kick around because of his weight.
