Leonardo DiCaprio headlined the opening of the Cannes Film Festival.

Leonardo DiCaprio and cast members from “The Great Gatsby” headlined the Cannes Film Festival opening on the French Riviera. The scene was high glamour, even though a pouring rain and gusting winds played havoc on the red carpet.

The Baz Luhrmann-directed Gatsby, an adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel detailing the 1920s Jazz Age, opened the event.

DiCaprio was joined on the red carpet by Carey Mulligan, Nicole Kidman, Freida Pinto, Tobey Maguire and a host of other actors.

“There were so many people around me as I got out of the car that I couldn’t move and I got hit on the head by an umbrella,” Mulligan told London’s Daily Mail.

“I suddenly went ‘What the xxxx’ and I didn’t realize there was a TV camera in my face recording everything,” she said.
