Rupert Murdoch has called it quits on his wife of 14 years, Wendi Deng.

Wendi Deng, wife of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, who famously slapped a prankster who hit her husband with a pie, has gotten her just dessert. The 82-year-old News Corp. owner has filed to divorce Deng, who is half his age.

Murdoch married the Chinese-born businesswoman after tossing off his wife of 32-years, Anna Tory. He married Deng one month after he finalized the divorce in 1999.

He met Deng at a company party in Hong Kong, where she worked for the News Corp.’s Chinese broadcast outlet. The had two children together during their 14-year marriage. The Australia-born billionaire had been married one other time to Patricia Booker from 1956 to 1967.

Murdoch filed the papers today (June 13) in New York Supreme Court, according to Murdoch lives with Deng in a posh Upper East Side apartment in Manhattan.

Deng’s career has been marked by overweening ambition. She was studying medicine in China when wealthy American businessman Jake Cherry and his wife Joyce took her under their wings in 1987.

Joyce taught Deng English and the couple sponsored her student visa, which allowed her to come to America.

She lived with the Cherry’s while studying and received a bachelor’s degree in economics from California State University at Northridge She later earned an MBA from the Yale School of Management.

But the relationship ended badly when Joyce discovered that Deng was having an affair with her husband, who was 30 years older than Deng. She later married Cherry, but they also ended in divorce after two years. Deng, however, was able to use the marriage to obtain her “green card.”

Shortly afterward, she landed a job in the Hong Kong office of Murdoch’s Sky News. Deng used to work for Murdoch as chief of strategy for News Corp.-owned MySpace China operations, but is no longer employed by the company, according to deadline.

In July 2011, she made international news when she jumped out of her chair and slapped a prankster who had hit her husband with a cream pie during a British Parliament hearing.

Murdoch was being questioned about a telephone hacking scandal involving News Corp. newspapers. Prince William, Hugh Grant and Sienna Miller were among some 4,000 people who were wiretapped by Murdoch’s News of the World tabloid.
