Erin Brady won the Miss USA beauty pageant last night in Las Vegas.

Erin Brady, Miss Connecticut, has a head for business and a body built for sin. But her “special talent,” cooking, her love of bowling and her ability to field questions with the greatest of ease helped her capture the Miss USA crown last night in Las Vegas.

Brady, at 25, skews slightly older as pageant contests go. She’s already established a career as a financial accountant after earning a finance degree at Central Connecticut State University.

Brady said one of her career goals is to become an advocate for children of addicts, because she suffered as a child with a family member who was an alcoholic.

Miss Alabama was first runner-up out of the 51 Miss USA contestants, a list winnowed by celebrity judges, Wendie Malick, singer and TV host Christina Milian, reality show star NeNe Leakes and fashion designer Betsey Johnson.

Going into tonight’s competition were 15 semi-finalists that included contestants from California, Nevada, Connecticut, Texas, Illinois, Alabama, Maryland, West Virginia, Utah, also winner of Miss Photogenic, and North Carolina.

The five finalists included Brady, Miss Utah Marissa Powell, Miss Alabama, Mary Margaret McCord, Miss Illinois, Stacy Juris and Miss South Carolina, Megan Pinckney.

Brady was crowned by the reigning Miss USA, Nana Meriwether, who replaced Miss USA Olivia Culpo, after she was crowned Miss Universe. The contest is an extension of the Miss Universe Organization, owned by Donald Trump. The Miss Universe 2013 competition will take place in Moscow in November.
