The rich live on a satellite orbiting earth with all the creature comforts one could ask for: no crime, no disease and sharp-dressed babes with killer bodies.
Earth, meanwhile, is a festering mess, rife with crime, decay and pestilence from countless wars and environmental pollution. Lots of scurvy he=men roam the planet causing havoc.
Damon’s character, Max Da Costa, a reformed car thief turned factory worker, discovers he has cancer and is desperate to get to Elysium for treatment. But his efforts take on a broader context.
He wants to bring the two worlds together and restore social order on earth. Max’s plan is to kidnap a rich businessman, played by William Fichtner, and steal his identity to gain entry to the satellite world.
But it seems the one-percenters would rather not have him aboard. Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt. played by Jodie Foster, and her secret police forces of cyborgs try to hunt him down.
In the new teaser clip, Da Costa, wearing a powerful exoskeleton machine, is confronted by a cyborg and they shoot it out.
The film is film written, co-produced and directed by Neill Blomkamp. His last movie, “District Nine” was one of the best science fiction movies in recent memory. If this is anything like it, hold onto your seats for a psychological and technological thriller.
