The Luis Siret Beach in Spain and the ‘serpent’ found on the beach.

The Loch Ness Monster lives… sort of. A strange looking creature resembling the famous monster washed up on a Spanish beach, stunning onlookers and baffling experts, who had never seen anything quite like it outside of depictions of mythical sea dragons.

The 13-foot long creature, resembling a giant eel had two distinct devilish-looking horns on its head.

The creature was discovered by a woman walking along Luis Siret Beach in Villaricos, yesterday (Aug. 22), according to website, ThinkSpain. She found the detached head first and then encountered the body farther down the beach.

She put the two together and it was a perfect match. “A lady found one part and we helped her retrieve the rest,” said Maria Sanches, the civil protection coordinator for nearby Cuevas del Almanzora. “We have no idea what it was.”

The Loch Ness monster is a fabled sea serpent that has purportedly been sighted in the famed Loch, the Scottish name for a lake in the highlands if the island nation. The lake is said to be more than 900 feet deep, and some believe it has an underwater connection to the sea.

Sea serpents were also widely written about from ancient times up until the Age of Discovery in the 15th and 16th centuries, which sailing ships crossed the seas in search of new lands.

“It’s hard to know what we’re dealing with. It’s very decomposed and we cannot identify what it is,” said one marine expert.

The horns, he added, appear to be bones that fell out of the creature and were inserted in its head.

But one thing is certain about the creature, “it really stank,” said Sanches.
