Her performance on the MTV Video Music Awards ignited sales of her already popular song “We Can’t Stop.”
Sales for her VMAs song and new release, “Wrecking Ball,” jetted ahead, while sales for Robin Thicke’s song “Blurred Lines,” which she performed with Thicke during the show, were flat.
“Wrecking Ball” debuted the same day as the VMAs (Aug. 25) and has sold more than 90,000 digital downloads, according to Forbes magazine. It’s close to breaking into the Top Ten on the charts.
Miley Cyrus Super Hot Bangerz Photos
Miley’s performance resonated with fans if not critics. Since the show, she’s added nearly a quarter million new Facebook fans and 213,000 new Twitter followers to the 13 million fans who are already following her on the social media site.
Thicke also charted an increase in Facebook and Twitter fans, although not nearly the number of Miley’s. He’s sold 250,000 copies of “Blurred Lines” since the show, although the number is down 14 percent from the week before the show. Sales of his new track, ”Give It 2 U,” jumped 79 percent.
No wonder Cyrus’s management was crowing. “It could not have gone better,” said her manager.
Miley, who is gearing up for the release of her new album Bangerz in October, shows no signs of changing her sexed-up strategy. She released sexy new Bangerz promo photos that are sizzling.
