Odom had a burgeoning career in the NBA until he met and married Khloe after a whirlwind romance in 2009 that lasted all of 32 days.
He became enmeshed in their reality shows to the point that teammates complained that it was interfering with his basketball career. All the while, Khloe painted a happy face on their marriage.
She was quoted extensively in tabloids on how to maintain a successful marriage. It became a major story line in “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and tabloid headlines.
She never mentioned Lamar’s drug problems until they exploded amid allegations he’d gone on a crack cocaine bender. Then, at least two women surfaced and claimed he had slept with them along the way.
Father Joe Odom stirred the pot by charging that his son had been cursed since marrying Khloe. “Someone’s got to speak out; I’ve got to do something about this,” he told radaronline.
“It’s simple. They brought him down,” he said.
Lamar reportedly blasted his father, who’s had his own drug problems, on Twitter. But the tweet turned out to be written by someone else, according to gossip site TMZ. More recently, Lamar and his father have been photographed together in a show of support.
In short, Lamar has a lot of issues to clear up, and Oprah is pressing to get the interview, according to TMZ. Lamar is game if the conditions are right, the site claims.
A source inside Oprah’s production company tells us the powerful talk show host is likely to be sympathetic toward Lamar at the expense of the Kardashians. “There’s no love lost between Oprah and the Kardashians,” the source says. “Especially if she feels the family has used Lamar.”
Kim’s family is in a panic because Lamar has the ability to blow the Kardashian clan, especially momager Kris Jenner, out of the water with insider details about them and their reality shows.
Whether he spills, or maintains the Kardashian myth of one big happy family remains to be seen.
