Lawrence, 23, revealed her dramatic new pixie cut on on Facebook, Nov. 6.
It’s not quite as radical as Emma Watson’s ultra short hair, or Miley Cyrus’s shaved-side look. But she chopped off most of her long, flowing tresses.
She explained why with her usual self-deprecating humor. “I don’t know, I cut it earlier, and it was just kind of like [shoulder-length] and it grew to that awkward, gross length,” she told Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer.
“I just kept putting it back in a bun, and I said, ‘Well I don’t want to do this,’ so I just cut it off. It just couldn’t get any uglier,” she added.

Since then, she’s shown how versatile her new cut can be.
At a reception for the AFI’s speical tribute, “An Evening With David O. Russell,” on Nov. 8, she countered her Michael Kors dress with cleavage revealing cutout by going with a loose, casual hair style.
She accessorized with a Dion Lee jacket and jewelry by Graziela Gems.
Then, last night (Nov. 11) she hit the red carpet in London for the “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” premiere. She was decked out in a sleeveless Christian Dior gown that had a plunging open back with loose-fitting fabric draped across her front.
She complimented the more formal look with her hair swept upward in the front and slicked back on the sides. While her dress drew some criticism for it’s baggy look, her hair saved the day.
