Outside of a few fleeting glances of Rob driving in his truck or a car, his appearance at the Pacific Palisades, Calif., event is the first solid sighting of the “Twilight” actor since last month.
Rob continues his “Twilight” ways by maintaining as low a profile as possible to avoid the paparazzi. But he’s made surprise appearances at several industry events since he wrapped up his recent spate of filming.
And Rob had at least one new surprise for his fans last night. He’s growing a goatee. This is the first event where he’s been spotted with it.

Rob posed for pictures with event host, Adam Shankman, the well-known Hollywood director who previously worked in musical theater and as a choreographer for such acts as Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson and the Spice Girls.
His films include “A Walk to Remember,” “Bringing Down the House,” and 2007 musical movie “Hairspray” with John Travolta.
The event, designed to raise money for underprivileged children, was held at the Bel-Air Bay Club and included, cocktails, dinner and an auction.
Activist Jane Ekayu was honored for her work with Uganda’s child soldiers. The young musicians who make up the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, Paraguay, were also honored. Their instruments are made from recycled materials like empty cans and other trash.
Rob reportedly won a cello made of recycled materials with a $5,600 bid, according to E! News. He’s also worked with the group in the past.
He helped build a girls’ home in Cambodia with proceeds from a “meet and greet” with him on the set of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.” A Chicago woman paid $80,000 for the honor, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Rob was spotted mingling with Shankman, charity co-founders Daryl Offer, Vicki Kennedy and Jill Goldman, Beth Behrs of “Two Broke Girls;” “School of Rock” writer Mike White and pal Dermot Mulroney, who appears in the new TV series, “Crisis.”
