Miley Cyrus took the stage at “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” as if to prove a point; she was a force to be reckoned with in 2013 and worked the stage like she owned it with a sharp performance of a “#GetitRight” amd “Wrecking Ball.”

She wore a trademark outfit that flashed her toned torso and let plenty of skin peek out from a floor-length white fur coat. (Hello, PETA!)

There was no hi-jinx this time around, although she was accompanied by her “little person” sidekick who has made most of her shows since her wild performance in August at the MTV Video Music Awards.

She opened with “#GetItRight” and then went right into “Wrecking Ball.” Despite the cold weather there was no evidence Miley was lip-syncing and her voice sounded crisp.

“Thank you guys, happy New Year. I hope you have and amazing 2014. And thank you guys, thank you for this year. I’m so thankful. Thank you guys,” she shouted out at the end of her performance.

Indeed, whether you like her style or not, Miley left her mark on the year like no other performer, from her risque MTV VMA performance that was talked about for weeks, to the release of her album Bangerz.

She redefined her sexuality and embraced nudity in a way that was uninhibited, daring and unapologetic. It was the year she dispelled her Hannah Montana image once and for all, even though the show ended almost three years ago.

She put her nakedness on display in her video for “Wrecking Ball,” and pushed the limit on sexuality with masturbation scenes in her video for “Adore You.”

It’s hard to see where she will go from here, but there’s no question her performance was a victory walk.
