Charli XCX Sings Her Bad Girl Anthem ‘Break the Rules on SNL (watch!)

Charli XCX performed her bad girl anthem “Break the Rules” on Saturday Night Live last night (Dec. 13). The second single off her new album, Sucker, reflects her musical style, which she describes as “gangsta pop.” Charli, real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison began writing songs when she was 14 and has a rare ability, known as synesthesia, to see music in colors. She says pop singers like Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Spice Girls and Kate Bush were early musical influences. But she also developed taste for rappers like Little Wayne and punk-rock bands like The Hives, Weezer and The Ramones....

harli XCX is the latest British import to land in America and create a splash with her music. She debuted on Saturday Night Live last night (Dec. 13) and performed her hit song “Boom Clap.” The well of UK talent seems almost endless. Charli, real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison, has actually been singing professionally in Britain since 2008 when she was a mere 16. Now 22, the singer and songwriter announced in August that she will release her second major-label studio album, titled Sucker on Monday (Dec. 16). ...

Justin Bieber Finds Some Love at MTV EMAs, But One Direction Rules (video)

Justin Bieber, who hasn’t released a studio album in more than two years, nonetheless found some love at the MTV EMAs, winning the Best Male Artist award. But boy band One Direction blew by him with three wins of their own, including “Biggest Fans.” Nicki also performed along with Grande, Sheeran, UK singer Charli XCX, a very pregnant Alicia Keys and Irish rockers U2. Katy Perry was also a big winner....
