"Game of Thrones" season finale lived up to its hype with the stunning deaths of several main characters, but they seemed to die more for shock value without regard to meaning, logic, or self-interest, annoying fans in the process. The show, of course, is a fantasy, which gives writers lots of leeway to do whatever they want with their characters. Still, viewers expect characters at the very least to act, if not totally rationally at least in their own self-interest. Both were lacking in the finale. ...
