“Downton Abbey” star Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley on the hit PBS Show,” has suffered a tragedy that parallels the life of her star-crossed character. Dashing fiance John Dineen died Sunday (Dec. 13) from a rare form of cancer. He was 34. Dockery met Dineen after she was introduced by Downton co-star Allen Leech, who plays Tom Branson, the family chauffeur who marries Mary’s sister, Lady Sybil. And, that’s exactly the problem, groans head butler Charles Carson, played by Jim Carter. The new trailer only provides snapshots of the upcoming season, but it looks like the Abbey will be rocked by scandal. “Downton Abbey” is intricately staged to capture every detail of life among the upper crust in post-Edwardian England, so it’s pretty safe to assume Lord Robert Crawley and Lady Edith Crawley wouldn’t be swigging from a plastic water bottle. Yet Hugh Bonneville and Laura Carmichael are a pictured in period costume on the show’s set with a decidedly 21st Century water bottle on the mantle in the background. How the photo got by editors and producers and made its way online is anyone’s guess....
