Tom Cruise Meets His Match; Emily Blunt Kicks Ass in Edge of Tomorrow

Tom Cruise’s new movie “Edge Of Tomorrow” is one of the best things he’s ever done on film, thanks to Director Doug Liman (“The Bourne Identity”). But Emily Blunt steals the picture. It’s her first action role, and she comes across as one major bad ass. And that’s saying a lot given Cruise’s usual over-the-top performance. Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones Marriage on the Rocks

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, one of the great, if quizzical, Hollywood marriages, are apparently teetering on the brink. It’s still unknown whether a divorce is in the works, but the duo have been living separate lives for at least the past six months and maybe longer. It’s an odd twist for Douglas who suffered through a dysfunctional, 23-year marriage to first wife Diandra Douglas, whom he divorced in 2000. She was only 19 at the time they married and he was 32. His marriage to Zeta-Jones is characterized by a similar age gap. When they were married in 2000, weeks after his divorce was final, he was 56 and she was 31, a 25-year difference....

Jack Reacher, Django Delays: Do Movies Really Play Role in Violence?

Quentin Tarantino’s latest film “Django Unchained” and Tom Cruise’s “Jack Reacher” have both been delayed as a result of the Newtown elementary school massacre. Is Hollywood finally admitting a connection between film violence and real life violence? The delay in premieres for both violent movies was ostensibly done out of respect for the families of the children and loved ones murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School. But it could also be construed to mean Hollywood is tacitly admitting that a connection really exists between movie violence and the random acts of violence that have swept the country in recent years....

Tom Cruise $50M Tabloid Lawsuit; Time for Reality Check

Tom Cruise is taking on another “mission impossible” task; he’s filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against two tabloid magazines. Although he’s not likely to get very far in court, the suit is a rare reality check on increasingly reckless reporting by celebrity magazines and Websites. The practice causes two major problems. It undercuts the credibility of legitimate reporting based on real sources and it’s patently unfair to news outlets and Websites that try to maintain some standards in their reporting....
