Cosby Connection: Cosby won a track and field scholarship to Temple University in 1961–62 and often attended alumni events.
Allegations: Constand claimed Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in his Philadelphia-area mansion in 2004. She is the only alleged Cosby victim to take legal action. She sued Cosby in 2006 and settled the suit out of court. Her attorney had lined up 13 women, all identified as “Jane Does,” who were willing to testify against Cosby and relate similar experiences. Cosby grew up in Philadelphia and was actively involved with Temple. She said she first met Cosby in November 2002 and the pair became friends. She considered him a “mentor” and was a frequent guest at dinner parties at his home. She went to Cosby’s house on an evening in January 2004, and the comic legend gave her three blue pills after she complained about stress from work. Cosby, she said, described the pills as an “herbal medication” that would help her relax. She said in court papers that her “knees began to shake, her limbs felt immobile, she felt dizzy and weak, and she began to feel only barely conscious.” Cosby slipped her another drug and sexually molested while she was unconscious. When she woke up she said “her clothes and undergarments were in disarray,” according to court papers. She went to police as well, but Philadelphia’s prosecutor declined to take the case, citing lack of evidence. That led to her civil suit.
