Cara Delevingne, the UK’s latest fashion “It” girl, has been dropped by fashion retailer H&M.

Cara Delevingne, the UK socialite model whom everyone compares to Kate Moss, now has one more than in common with the supermodel… her very own drug scandal. She’s been dropped by fashion retailer H&M after being photographed with a packet of white powder.

Delevingne, 20, the granddaughter of Sir Jocelyn Stevens, who once ruled over all of England’s historic monuments, was featured in H&M’s 2011 Authentic Collection campaign.

But the relationship now appears to have ended abruptly, according to London’s Daily Mail. “She is not a model with us and I think there was a misunderstanding that she was the face of H&M,” a spokeswoman told the paper’s Sunday edition.

The fashion brand has a “zero tolerance policy towards drugs,” that extends to the models who represent the company, the spokesperson said.

Delevigne’s problems began when she was greeted by photographers on the steps of her London house. She reached into her designer handbag for the keys to the front door.

When she pulled it out, a small plastic bag filled with white powder fell to the ground.

Although the contents were unconfirmed, cocaine is typically packaged the same way. Delevinge made matters worse when she stepped on the bag in an effort to conceal it.

“She found it hilarious but her friend was really edgy about it,” according to a photographer on the scene. “The friend definitely realized they were in trouble once that little packet had dropped on the ground.”

The loss of the relationship could cost the model several hundred thousand dollars in lost future work with the giant retailer.

H&M also dropped Moss in 2005 when she was photographed allegedly snorting cocaine with then boyfriend Pete Doherty. The incident, however, only temporarily slowed her career.

Delevigne is a staple of London’s tabloid press and is quickly making inroads in the United States. She shows off her fashion prowess in a new campaign for Reserved’s 2013 spring campaign.
