Cristiano Ronaldo is shirtless and sexy in new Emporio Armani underwear and jeans ads that were released to coincide with FIFA 2010 World Cup soccer championship in South Africa.

Ronaldo, 25, shot the sizzling black-and-white photos in Madrid, where he plays professional soccer for Real Madrid.

He flaunts his rippling six-pack abs in the photos. He was also recently featured in a photo spread in Vanity Fair magazine, where he shared the cover (much to his consternation) with Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

Not surprisingly, the Portuguese international winger works hard to maintain his fit, 6’1″ 186-pound physique.

In addition to following a high-protein diet, Cristiano reportedly does 3,000 crunches a day and trains both on the field with teammates and in the gym lifting weights on his own.

Supersized billboards of the ads will be displayed in New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Rome, Paris and Tokyo.

He also shot a previous series of photos for Armani underwear and replaced UK soccer star David Beckham.

“Cristiano is a great-looking young man with the perfect physique of an athlete,” Giorgio Armani said at the time.

“For me, he is the essence of youth – spontaneous, exciting and a real maverick.

“It is for his energy that I have chosen Cristiano to become the new face of Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani Underwear – for his youthful, exciting, and, yes, sexy attitude,” he added.

The World Cup continues through July 11.
