Ferguson, 22, models the brand’s 2014 collection and looks sizzling.
Wacoal got its start in 1956 when founder Koichi Tsukamoto came to the United States to study the intimate apparel industry. He returned to Japan, which was rapidly westernizing after World War II and started the company.
It launched its U.S. brand in 1985 as Wacoal America. In 2009, the company entered the young adult market with the launch of its b.tempt’d by Wacoal line.
The company has also been active raising awareness about breast cancer and hold more than 1000 events across the United States each year, according to its Web site
Ferguson gives the brand a fresh and sexy look. The five-foot, nine-inch tall model is a healthy 130 pounds with an athletic, hour-glass figure. She was one of four rookies to grace the SI swimsuit issue this year.
Hannah should have no problem handling the rigors of the fashion industry. She grew up in a military household in San Angelo, Texas, a small town about 150 miles southwest of Dallas.
Both her parents are former Marines; her father was a sniper and her mother a drill instructor. Talk about discipline.
“We grew up with sheep and goats and chickens and geese and ducks and cats and dogs,” she says.
“My four siblings and I had our schedules written out, we were were each assigned a day when we had to go out and feed the animals. We also had to pull weeds and pick up trash and stuff,” she said in an SI interview.
“We weren’t allowed to paint our nails or get our ears pierced until we were 15. And certainly not to date!”
But she’s her own woman now. Hannah appears naked in the magazine, one of several models who are part of SI’s embrace of edgier, nude photographer for the iconic issue.
You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. Hannah lives in New York City now because of her modeling career, but still says she’s a country girl at heart.
