Kloss, the Texas model who took the fashion world by storm in 2008, writhes, twists and dances like no one is watching.
Of course, we all are.
The video has more than one fashion connection. Beside Kloss’s dazzling appearance, the video was directed by renown Dutch fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
Kloss, 22, wears clothes right off the runway, including a barely-there Versace dress that caused her to have a nip slip on the runway at Paris Fashion Week. The same dress was no coincidence.
“I had seen her come down the runway in Paris and seen her at a party that night, wearing the jumpsuit and dancing around and flipping her hair everywhere,” said Brandon Maxwell, who styled the video and regularly works as a stylist for Lady Gaga.
“So as soon as we got those references for the video, I knew we had to have that exact jumpsuit by Versace,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
The video pays homage to the disco era and features footage of the band during a performance on the hit ’70s music variety show “Soul Train.”
Karlie plays a disco aficionado. She’s pictured surrounded by old vinyl albums from the era by Madonna, David Bowie and Chic, of course. Chic co-founder Nile Rodgers produced many of the albums.
The leggy 6-foot, 1-inch tall model revels in the music as she prepares to go out on the town. She’s scantily dressed in bikini bottoms and loose-fitting off-the-shoulder top.
She tries on several dresses before jumping into her Versace design.
“We’ve tried to capture all the nuances in the full length video and still keep it fun. Karlie Kloss connects the past and present,” Rodgers wrote about the video on his Facebook page.
“She sees the original group (who plays this track) on Soul Train. She, visualizes the past looking at old school vinyl – then gets dressed and goes out to a current party to meet up with Stephen Galloway and the current line-up happens to be playing live.”
