Christie Brinkley delivered some shocking–although ostensibly good–news to daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook. She’s going to follow in mom’s footsteps and strip down for Sports Illustrated’s iconic swimsuit issue.

Sailor, who is 19 now, could consider the SI assignment a rite of passage of sorts.

Her supermodel mom appeared on the cover three times and posed for eight swimsuit issues, in all, between 1975 and 2004.

Of note, Sailor is the first daughter of a swimsuit model to appear solo in an issue. Christie, Sailor and half-sis Alexa Ray Joel posed together for 2017′s issue.

The swimsuit issue can be a career maker for a model, although Sailor hardly needs the boost or the publicity. She’s already working as a model.

The magazine in recent years has increasing featured topless models. No word on whether Sailor will doff her top.

Sailor was busy during New York Fashion Week, so Christie decided to surprise her

“Obviously we loved Sailor from the get go… Meeting and shooting her last year was one of the highlights of my career,” SI Swim editor MJ Day said in a statement.

“She’s the millennial girl next door. She’s funny. She’s driven. She’s smart. She’s beautiful. She’s interesting. And most of all, she has a voice and isn’t afraid to use it,” Day said.

Models Anne de Paula, Robin Holzken and Chase Carter, will join Sailor in the rookie class, according to the magazine.
