Kaia Gerber couldn’t wait to hit the runways, but fashion critics say she should cool her stiletto heels just a bit. Only 16, she’s burning up the runways in New York Paris, London and Milan and landing super hot contracts with Chanel and Marc Jacobs.
Despite her age (she turned 16 last September), she’s legal according to fashion industry standards. She’s walked in a knee-wobbling 22 shows in the first three months this year.
Tabloids picked up her trail today (Apr. 3) in Paris, following a week kicking back in Miami.
The daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, caused an uproar when mom let her walk in a Versace campaign when she was just 10. She hit the brakes on her career in the face of criticism, but Kaia was back at work in teen shoots at 13.
Last March, Karl Lagerfeld photographed her at Gabrielle Chanel’s Parisian apartment, in stunningly seductive poss for a new handbag campaign. The campaign will launch tomorrow (Apr. 4)
She’s photographed in a super short dress clutching a $3,500 purse, not exactly something high-school sophomores can afford. The photo kicked up a small storm on Social Media, largely because of her young age.
But Kaia continues to keep strutting. She stars in a new campaign video Marc Jacobs, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the brand’s “Daisy” perfume.
Kaia Gerber frolics on the beach in the new Marc Jacobs campaign.
Watch out, though! The brand sent Kendall Jenner down the runway in a see-through blouse in her debut. Is Kaia next?
In a behind-the-scenes video, she explained the shoot.
“The concept for the new Marc Jacobs Daisy campaign is very beachy, fun. We’re kind of just hanging out having the best time, it just brought back all the memories of me growing up in Malibu on the beach. I lived on the beach and was always in the ocean so I felt really in my natural habitat.”
Kaia appears on the beach with other models. “Under blue skies on a golden beach, a new chapter of sisterhood begins. Introducing #DaisyLove, our new fragrance campaign featuring our Daisy muse, @kaiagerber,” the brand said in a Tweet.
