Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester has become a hot commodity in Hollywood, and is fast becoming the leading breakout star from the trendy, but so-so rated television show about Upper East Side Manhattan rich girls.
Most recently, Meester raised eyebrows when Vera Wang selected her as the face of their next fragrance. The company is reportedly paying her $3 million for the two-year contract.
The designer complimented Meester’s “beauty, talent and spirit.”
Meester was supposed to be shooting the first campaign for the perfume with photographer Carter Smith this weekend in Manhattan, according to Page Six.
Meester was also on the red carpet with no less than Gwyneth Paltrow for their movie “Country Strong.”
The Screen Gems movie had its premiere Monday, Nov 8., in Nashville, Tenneessee, at Regal Green Hills.
Meester wore a one-shoulder Marc Jacobs gown.
“Country Strong” centers its story on a rising country-music songwriter who sparks with a fallen star.
Together, they mount his ascent and her comeback, which leads to romantic complications involving her husband/manager and a beauty queen-turned-singer. The drama will go into general release on Jan. 7, 2011
Meester, who plays glamorous, but sinister Blair Waldorf on CW’s Gossip Girl, also fronts December’s Marie Claire UK edition. The stunning series of closeups features Meester’s mesmerizing eyes and luscious lips.
Leighton’s ads for Wang’s as-of-yet-unnamed fragrance will launch in magazines next spring, with the fragrance available in department stores next summer.
This is the second big beauty contract for Leighton, who is also the spokesperson/Global Hair Ambassador for Herbal Essences.
