“Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester continues to make her mark in the fashion world. No longer hidden by her school girl look, she’s sexy and stunningly sophisticated in her latest spread for L’Officiel China.
Although her heart is probably set on a movie career — she most recently appeared in 2010’s “Country Strong” with Gwyneth Paltrow and the 2011 thriller “The Roommate” — she could easily land a day job modeling.
Her roots, after all, are in fashion.
She moved to New York at 11 with her mother, and while attending the Professional Children’s School began modeling for Wilhelmina.
She booked her first campaign for Ralph Lauren and worked with photographer Bruce Weber and then photographer Sofia Coppola.
At 14, she moved to Los Angeles to seek out more modeling work and try out acting.
She’s definitely paid her dues.
She had a slew of television guest appearances under he belt, when she landed her breakout role in 2007 as Blair Waldorf in the teen drama “Gossip Girl,” about rich, Upper East Side New York teens.
Although her television credits still out-number her film credits, she is starting to land juicer roles.
She’ll next appear in romantic comedy, “Monte Carlo” with Selena Gomez and Katie Cassidy.
The film, produced by Nicole Kidman, Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan, is slated for a July 1 release.
She’s also set to appear in the film, “The Oranges,” another romantic comedy in which she has a starring role.
For the L’Officiel China shoot, Meester wore jewel-toned spring pieces from Gucci, Fendi and Max Mara.
She’s styled by fashion editor Peju Famojure and photographed by Alexey Yurenev. Check out her glamorous shoot.
