Mara plays social misfit Lisbeth Salander, who harbors dark secrets about her background and sets out to expose the corruption, greed and latent Nazism in high circles in Sweden.
While the American version of the film has yet to hit theaters, a Swedish film trilogy based on the crime series by the late Stig Larsson is already a cult classic in Europe.
It starred Swedish actress Noomi Rapace in the iconic role.

Now the UK fashion house H&M has tapped Trish Summerville, to draw inspiration from Salander’s tattoos, body piercings and black leather outfits and create the line.
Summerville is the costume designer for American adaptation, which also stars Daniel Craig and Christopher Plummer.
Leather and black denim are the basis for the 30-piece collection, which features industrial shades of black, grey, worn white and dark red.
“I wanted the collection to have the essence and strength of Salander, with a fashion edge, and I’m pleased with the result,” said Summerville.
“My goal is for women to find pieces in it that they love and then mix them with their own wardrobe to create their own personal style.”
The collection will debut exclusively at the boutique Colette in Paris on Nov. 28, with its own dedicated in-store area, according to London’s Daily Mail.
It will also be available starting Dec. 14 in some 180 H&M stores worldwide, as well as online.
The film is set for release December 21st. Check out the trailer below.
