Heidi Klum, famous for her many nude poses and topless romps on some of the world’s most exclusive beaches, is counseling young models to be wary about taking their clothes off for photographers.
The startling advice from the 39-year-old model is counter to her own career. But she warns young models, “not everyone is cool and has your best interest [at heart].”
Photographers often encourage young unknown models to include nude photos in their portfolios. In the event they become famous, the photos may soar in value. They key, for models, is to make sure they retain all rights to the images.
Posing nude is a fixture in high fashion and models who do nude photography often get a career boost.

Model Karlie Kloss saw her career leap after she posed for stunning nude photos in 2011 for high-fashion magazine Vogue Italia. She garnered worldwide attention from the 18-page spread, styled by fashion editor Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele and shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel.
The impetus for Klum’s remarks were comments by supermodel Kate Moss. She recently revealed that she came close to a nervous breakdown after being pushed into topless posing as a teen. Today, she’s famous for her nude photo shoots.
Heidi had this to say: “When you have a good body, photographers will often be like, ‘Yeah, let’s take this off, and why don’t we lose this too,’ and you can quickly end up not wearing much clothing. You have to be careful and strong at saying no, especially when you’re younger and on your own. Not everyone is cool and has your best interest [at heart].”
Klum offered the advice in the upcoming 20th anniversary edition of Ocean Drive, a regional luxury magazine in Florida.
