globes-jenniferlawrence-frontJennifer Lawrence not only won a top Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy or musical, she also led in the fashion sweepstakes in a stunning red, strapless Dior gown, reflecting three major spring 2013 fashion trends.

Bold primary colors are in as well as the strapless look in ball gowns and simple lines. Red was the color of the night.

“New Girl” star Zooey Deschanel also looked stunning in red in her Oscar de la Renta gown. She reflected the same design trends as Lawrence’s Dior creation.

Marion Cotillard opted for a similar shade of red in a Dior dress that appeared to be a variation on Lawrence’s gown.

It was strapless with a black belt accent. Although her dress had a shorter asymmetrical hem line.

The reds didn’t end there. Claire Danes wore bold red Versace, sleeveless halter-top gown with a plunging neckline. And, Jennifer Garner when with a deeper ruby shade in her strapless Vivienne Westwood Couture gown.

Garner’s dress, like so many others, didn’t hold back on the cleavage. Her baby mama boobies almost overflowed her tight-fitting gown, but Garner soldiered on down the red carpet.

Nude and neutral shades were also in abundance, illustrated by Amanda Seyfried’s flowing lace Givenchy gown. It had a trailing hemline and was one of the more conservative gowns on the evening.

Kerry Washington chose a similar hue in Miu Miu vintage looking dress that emphasized another 2012 trend, sheer fabric. The maxi-length outer garment was laid over a creme miniskirt. Jennier Lopez also went with a neutral tone Zuhair Murad sheer design that was floor-length with a sweeping train.

Jessica Alba’s Oscar de la Renta gown illustrated a couple of other looks. Beside being strapless, it was form-fitting and ended in a fish-tail flourish. She chose a pastel peach color that complemented her skin tone.

Megan Fox also went for a strapless fishtail look in a stunning neutral toned Dolce & Gabbana gown.

For the red carpet, Golden Globes co-host Amy Poehler opted for a Stella McCartney black pantsuit with three-quarters length pants and a tuxedo jacket with a plunging neckline.

Taylor Swift opted for a Donna Karan gown in deep purple that also was form-fitting with a fishtail flourish. Although conservatively cut in the front, the dress was daringly backless and revealing from behind.

Black never goes out of style and several celebrities opted for the formal color in not so traditional dresses. Eva Longoria wore Pucci; Helen Mirren was in Badgley Mischka and Sarah Hyland wore Max Azria. All were in basic black.
