Milla Jovovich combines guns (well the imaginary kind) and sleek style to take on New York City in a new photo spread for Vogue Paris that could double as scene setters for her next “Resident Evil” film.
The model and actress has starred in five of the science-fiction fantasy films as a seductive assassin.
She reprised the role as Alice in last year’s “Resident Evil: Retribution,” which hit theaters last September. Critics generally panned it, but nothing says success like a $222 million worldwide box office gross against a production budget of $65 million. That suggests a sixth picture could be on the way.
Fortunately, the Russian native hasn’t given up her modeling career, which she began at age 9.
Milla Jovovich Sleek, Chic in All-Black
She’s graced more than one hundred magazine covers since then, no small feat since she’s been working mostly part-time for the last several years.
She started dating Paul W. S. Anderson, when he directed her in the first “Resident Evil” film. She had a baby by him in 2007 and they married in 2009. He’s directed her in all the “Resident Evil” films.
Jovovich could have been culled from a “Resident Evil” script for her shoot with renowned fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, who work under the name Inez & Vinoodh.
One key difference is Milla’s outerwear. She ditches the “Resident Evil” spandex suit for all-black outfits from Prada, Nina Ricci, Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana.
Editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt personally styled the shoot for the magazine’s special issue saluting New York City, where the entire edition was photographed.
