Sasha Grey continues to make inroads into a mainstream film career.

Sasha Grey, who took the adult film industry by storm only to retire two years ago, may have missed out on her chance for a breakout role in that other Linda Lovelace movie, but there’s no question she’s just one film away from major stardom.

Grey’s book, “The Juliette Society,” by Grand Central Publishing draws on her experience in the adult industry. She describes it as a book like “Fight Club,” only about sex.

She broke into the industry at 18 in 2006, after leaving college and packing her bags for Los Angeles. She brought some intelligence and humanity to her later adult films.

She starred in 224 porn productions, beginning with “Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge.” It featured a hard-core orgy scene. Grey did it all during her career and saw it as an opportunity to explore her sexuality.

“I have a huge appetite for sex and self-exploration. I wanted to express my sexuality as a strong woman, to push my own boundaries and see which part of my psyche would take me to my next euphoric sexual experience,” she once said in an interview.

She also became a strong defender of the industry. “Many people in society believe that I am a victim,” she says. “I was not sexually abused. I am not on drugs. The acts I perform are always consensual.”

Grey moved into mainstream films when Steven Soderbergh cast her in the 2009 film, “The Girlfriend Experience.” She played the lead character, a high-end Manhattan call girl who gets caught up in presidential politics.

The film won raves from critics and a 63 percent rating on rottentomatoes, although it was only shown in limited release. It grossed about $1 million and lost money.

Her highest profile role was in a six episode arc on season seven of the hit HBO show “Entourage. She played a fictionalized version of herself as Vincent Chase’s (Adrian Grenier) girlfriend.

Grey has two other upcoming films, “Open Windows,” a Spanish thriller with Elijah Wood and Neil Maskell and “The Scribbler,” another thriller with Katie Cassidy, Garret Dillahunt, Eliza Dushku, Michelle Trachtenberg and Kunal Nayyar.
