The movie, the second in a series based on Suzanne Collins Hunger Games trilogy, follows Katness, Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Primrose (Willow Shields) after she wins the 74th Hunger Games.
The games in which 24 contestants from 12 Districts fight to the death, are both a form of entertainment and a way to keep the masses in check by the elites who run the country from the Capitol. As part of her duties as victor, Katness goes on a tour of the districts and senses a rebellion brewing.
That plays into the opening moments of the trailer, when Donald Sutherland, who plays President Snow intones in a voice-over: “Ms. Everdeen, you fought very hard in the arena; but they were games. Would you like to be in a real war?”
From there the clip flashes through a series of scenes that suggests the new film will be a tour de force of action and special effects. Judging by its looks, Katniss will spend a lot of time in the jungle fighting the elements as well as the Capitol.
From their victorious chariot ride through the city, Katniss and Peeta are both loved and loathed by the population. In one scene she’s addressing a mob that seems hell bent on rioting. The mockingjay emblem appears ominously and Katniss is swarmed by them in another scene.
The clip is the final preview for the movie, which opens Nov. 22, kicking off the holiday movie season. Check out the trailer below, let us know your thoughts and follow TheImproper on Twitter for the latest movie news.
