Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio share a steamy embrace in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Margot Robbie scored a breakout role as the sexy eye-candy in Martin Scorsese’s “Wolf of Wall Street,” but until the film, she was virtually unknown in the United States, outside of a sexy Esquire “Me in My Place” feature.

Two years ago, as a 21-year-old, the Australian actress posed for a series off sexy photos for the magazine.

At the time, she was just gaining notice for her role as Laura Cameron, a stewardess in the ill-fated ABC drama “Pan Am.” The show barely got off the runway. It debuted in Sept. 2011 and was canceled six months later.

But the show was enough for Esquire to take notice. Now at 23, Robbie is a hot property in Hollywood thanks largely to her role in “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

She recalled in a recent interview the first time she met her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. It was anything but glamorous.

“We were in a studio audition room in New York, and he still had his giant beard and long hair from ‘Django Unchained’ because he had just wrapped filming,” she recalled.

Robbie never thought she’d get the role, in part, because it involved several nude scenes and she had made clear to her managers early in her career that nudity was off the table. But the more she studied the character the more she became invested in the role.

Her character is Naomi Lapaglia, the hot blonde girlfriend of DiCaprio’s character, stock market swindler Jordan Belfort, who clipped investors of $200 million before he was busted by the FBI.

The two established sizzling on-screen chemistry that led to dating rumors in the cheesier gossip web sites. But Robbie said even their bedroom scenes were all business.

“We [had to] entice this dog to jump in the bed and bite at Leo’s feet, so we had dog trainers at the end of the bed [with] dog treats, putting chicken liver on Leo’s toes. We’re in a small room, it’s hot, it’s sweaty, it smells like dog food,” she told The New York Post.

The film debuted on Christmas Day in the United States and is in theaters now. It will be released in Europe in January.
