Seth Meyers Promo Showcases New NBC Late Night Host (watch!)

Seth Meyers jumps into the late-night television fray next month on NBC.

Seth Meyers is taking the path from “Saturday Night Live” to late his own late-night television show. NBC has started promoting his arrival in a new clip that plays up the SNL connection.

Jimmy Fallon, 39, a “Saturday Night Live castmember from 1998 to 2004, blazed the trail with his debut on in 2009 on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”

Fallon, of course, is slated to replace long-time “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno,63, who is still at the top of his game. The move is controversial because Leno isn’t going quietly and NBC cut and run on his last replacement Conan O’Brien.

Fallon is slated to replace Leno following the 2014 Winter Olympics. He says he plans to continue the format of his late night show, which got him the job. Leno, in contrast, stuck with the format pioneered by “Tonight Show” legend Johnny Carson.

NBC is hoping Fallon will attract a younger audience.

“Late Night with Seth Meyers” will debut in February, and the new commercial takes at look at the progress on Meyers’ studio. Um… not much. Meyers, 40, will air the show from New York City.

Over the weekend, NBC also debuted the first promo for Fallon’s “Tonight Show.”
