Berry shot the movie in 2008 and 2009 and it was released in 2010 in a limited run to qualify for awards season.
Berry was nominated for a Golden Globe, but that’s the last the public heard about the film until now.
The trailer features Berry as Frankie Murdoch, a woman who suffers from multiple personality disorder. It’s based on a true story, set in 1970s Los Angeles where Frankie is a popular stripper.
But she slowly sinks into mental illness after becoming confused about events she can’t remember. As it turns out, she’s lapsing in and out of her other personalities, a racist white woman and a young child.
Her life becomes more confusing as she unknowingly cycles between personalities until she finally has a breakdown. Once hospitalized, Dr. Oz, played by Stellan Skarsgard, helps her come to grips with her mental illness.
Woodward won an Academy Award for best actress for her portrayal of Eve in the 1957 movie, and Field won an Emmy for her 1976 film “Sybil.”
“Frankie & Alice” hits theaters Apr. 4.
