Fox and Michael Bay, producer on the Nickelodeon Films picture, famously had a falling out after she criticized his direction on his “Transformers” movies.
Bay promptly fired her, reportedly under orders from Steven Spielberg, for comparing him to Hitler. Spielberg is Jewish.
Bay hired leggy model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for what would have been Fox’s role in the third “Transformers” movie.
Huntington-Whiteley had no acting experience, which came across as sort of a statement on Fox’s abilities.
Her criticism was unduly harsh. We’ve always pictured Bay as more of a petty, Third-World dictator in line with, say, a Batista or a Noriega.
Unfortunately, Fox’s next two films as a lead actress, “Jennifer’s Body” and action-adventure film “Jonah Hex” flopped, relegating her to supporting roles and more or less forcing her to kiss up.
The good news is she’s back in the lead… as eye candy, again.
She plays fearless reporter April O’Neil, who joins with the Ninja Turtles to root out corruption in New York City at the hands of the evil Shredder and his “Foot Clan.”
April and her wise-cracking cameraman, Vern Fenwick, (Will Arnett) are featured in the new trailer, which sets the stage for the movie and provides a glimpse at the always impressive CGI in Bay’s films.
The turtles also look surprisingly realistic while still adhering to the comic book forms.
